Encore, our solid rocket for the 2023-2024 season, is slated to participate in the Friends of Amateur Rocketry (FAR) 10K ft. competition. Within the Aerodynamics subsystem, my role involves conducting simulations and implementing design enhancements. I utilize a range of software programs, including OpenRocket, SolidWorks, OnShape, Star-CCM+, and more to refine our rocket's performance. By leveraging MATLAB calculations, I've significantly improved our safety margin, which represents the velocity at which we can fly without encountering the risk of failure. In fact, I've boosted this margin by an impressive 57%. Additionally, through the exploration of various fin designs and rocket dimensions, I've managed to elevate our estimated apogee by a remarkable 25%, which increases our chances of success for the upcoming competition.
